"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day. And I believe in miracles."

Turkey Dayyyyy

We made way too much food for Thanksgiving.
I'm not going to lie, it was mostly my fault...
I just get so excited when I find new, delicious recipes!
Here are a few pictures... click to enlarge :)

This was our first year deep frying our turkey.
It turned out so juicy!

Candied yams (left) and caramelized mushrooms & onions (right)

Mom's famous mashed potatoes (left) and buttermilk chive biscuits (right)

Sissies & Itzel

sissies! <3

the whole fam :)
Since we made enough food to feed a small army,
I can confidently say I will be eating nothing but these dishes
for the next few days (which is totally fine by me!).

Hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving too!
P.S. Bryan was there too!

Part of the Club

Yesterday I went with Bryan & Jim to the Orpheum theater
in LA to watch Aziz Anzari perform his stand up.

It was amazing! I love Aziz and I especially love his alter-ego RAAAAAAAANDY.
(please youtube some videos of his!)

Before the show we went to a little italian restaurant nearby called L'Angolo's.
We shared stuffed mushroom caps and I  enjoyed some delicious crab risotto.
Obviously it was a good night :)

Since I've been a total slacker with my Day Zero Project,
I decided that I had to do SOMETHING before we went out that night.
Sooo, as we were getting all dolled up, I had Bryan teach me how to tie a tie.
I don't know why this was on my list -- it was so easy!
I suppose I have just always felt left out of some exclusive club of awesome
people who know how to tie ties. Well, guess what ladies & gents???
I am now part of the club!

Everybody is Stupid Except Me

Last weekend Bryan & I lounged around his apartment
and watched the entire first season of Modern Family.

Okay so this show is sooo funny. My favorite characters are Gloria and Lily.
I love Gloria because, well, she reminds me of my relatives hahaha and I love Lily because
WHO DOESN'T LOVE ADORABLE KOREAN VIETNAMESE BABIES?!
(also she kind of reminds me of Melissa as a baby hehehe)

My favorite scene so far was when Luke put on the noise-canceling
headphones and didn't realize everybody could hear him talking:
"Everybody is stupid. Except me. I am funny. Ha. Ha. Ha."

Weekend goal: watch the second season.

I have another goal this weekend... actually I started working on it last Sunday
but it ended up taking a lot longer than I had expected! (Hint: it entails a LOT of reading)
I set it aside this week so I could focus on school but maybe I can get it done this weekend?

Do you remember all the city lights on the water?

#065: Kiss in the rain

Halloween 2010

Halloween weekend was kind of strange this year.
If you have never been to a Halloween in Isla Vista, check out this video:

Because I no longer live in Isla Vista, getting to & from the festivities was pretty difficult...
Not only were taxi companies not answering due to a high volume of calls,
we also happened to have pouring rain on Friday night, which meant that some of us had to walk
over three miles in the rain, in completely impractical costumes, just to get home.

Honestly, I had the most fun on the actual night of Halloween --
dinner with Em, Bryan, Trent, and Julie,
a fire in our fireplace to keep the living room all nice & toasty,
homemade mocha lattes, pumpkin lattes & caramel apples with candy crumbs,
and Harry Potter & the Order of the Pheonix.
I live for nights like those.

Anyway, here are the pictures we took!
If you are in these pictures, feel free to steal them and put them on your Facebook
