"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day. And I believe in miracles."

Coffee & Life

First of all, I recently found out that my mother was hoarding TWO Starbucks espresso machines.
Who does she think she is?! And there I was, wasting my precious dollars at the local S-bucks
like a sucker. So when I went home this weekend, she very graciously offered me one of hers.
Thanks Mom!! I am very excite!

I have a goal planned for this weekend... maybe two, depending on how brave I feel.
It is getting harder and harder to complete goals now -- not only because I am super busy,
but also because I have gotten all the easy ones out of the way and all that are
left are the ones that require a very specific circumstances or detailed planning.
Can you (yes, you!) please read through my list and tell me which ones I should work on??

As a present to you, I have stolen friends' facebooks photos. Enjoy:

♥ ♥ ♥

Hannah B's 21st Birthday!
I joined them for dinner Thursday night and then
Hannah spent the weekend in Vegas with some of the friendsies.

My friends are so gorgeous!

Ashley's 21st Birthday
I put some camera phone pictures up here a while
ago, but here are some regular photos haha.

West Beach Music Festival
Soo much fun!! The first night we went to a secret concert on a cruise ship around
Santa Barbara and the second night we went to see Rebelution at Chase Palm Park.
Did I mention I talked to Jimmy Jay and he let me WAVE HIS FLAG?!

Yeah. I know I'm cool.

We ate snickers because it was all they offered to 21 & Under people at the bar.

That is all. I will update you on my DZP this weekend, PROMISE!

An Open Letter to Jill Davenport

Dear Jill,

I know you did not realize it, but, this morning was the last time that

I will ever kiss your sweet little puppy head.

Today you are moving in with your new family and I can honestly say that
I will never forget the short time we had together!

Yes, we may have gotten off to a rough start -- you can't entirely blame us for that, though...
You WERE cross-eyed and twice Jack's size (always hogging mama's milk for yourself!)

anndd you used to poop and pee on people!!!

Pobre Emily
A baby squirrel Jill killed and dragged into the house

But now you are a fluffy ball of golden cuteness.

You learned to jump on and off the couch before Jack, because you are not afraid. You let us scratch your belly without squirming and sticking your arms out at weird angles. Even if we aren't petting or playing with you, sometimes you like to just cuddle up next to us and take a nap.

I guess what I am trying to say is: Ashley, Emily and I are really going to miss you.
I am not sad because I know you are moving in with a new family who already loves you so much!
I just hope you are happy there and that you will never forget the first family you had.

Love,
Marcella (the blackest one)

Stars & Stripes

So I realized the other day that my life revolves around blogs.

I have this blog.
I am researching blogs with a professor at UCSB.
I blog for Events of Santa Barbara.
And I blog for Santa Barbara Youth Music Academy.
Actually I have also been working on the Facebook and Twitter pages
for ESB and SBYMA (the chairman calls me the "Czar of Social Media").

Long story short:
You should check out the pages that I am working on!
It would be nice to know that somebody is actually reading them, haha,
and we need followers/fans/friends :)
Events of Santa Barbara: Facebook, Twitter, Blog
Santa Barbara Youth Music Association: Facebook, Twitter, Blog
Thank you :)

Alright, alright, here are some pictures from this weekend...

♥ ♥ ♥

So for the Fourth of July, we had a little BBQ at our new apartment!

And by "little barbeque" I mean one heck of a fiesta

We had ribs and baked beans for dinner (I used my cousin Tameka's recipe. Best decision EVER)

And I made Pioneer Woman's salted caramel brownies.
If you read Pioneer Woman, or if you are one of my friends who was
there when we made them a few months ago, you will realize that this batch
went terribly wrong. I was depressed for quite some time until some of our guests
came and began to comment on how amazing the brownies were. They loved
the crunchy caramel. Who woulda thunk?

Fireworks on the roof

great food, great people, great day ♥

Yum Yumz in my Tum Tumz

Guess what this is...

Yep, you were right! Ingredients for meatloaf!
I am kind of embarrassed that one of my goals was
#007: Eat meatloaf
but I have never had it before and I have always wanted to try it!
Meatloaf is like... engrained in American history. The Cleavers ate it. The Bradys ate it.
Even the family in A Christmas Story ate it! Remember? When Randy was like,
"Meat loaf, smeatloaf, double-stinkloaf, I HATE meatloaf!"
And then the mom instructs him to show her how the piggies eat? And then Hilarity ensues?
Needless to say,  I   l  o  v  e   A Christmas Story .  Therefore,  I  h  a  d  to have meatloaf.

This is where Emily comes in. Meet Emily.
She is one of my wonderful roommates. One day we are going to own a bakery together.
Emily's grandmother was a sweet old italian woman with more recipes than her family can possibly keep up with
(Emily has good reason to believe that the only living person with her grandmother's
full recipe collection is the man working at Albertsons. Ask her about it later).
Anyway, Emily used her grandmother's recipe for meatloaf, so it was
special italian meatloaf. It had spinach in it, my new favorite veggie. YUM!

Doesn't it look amazing?!

It did not taste as I had expected... the texture was different.
But good different! Em also prepared a caesar salad and rosemary roasted potatoes for us.
I definitely had seconds! And I am very excited about the leftovers in the fridge :)
I am officially American!

There is waaaay too much tasty food in this house!
I made some yummy chicken quesadillas the other night, so we have those leftovers...
Then Em made these banana chocolate chip muffins this morning.
The BEST thing to wake up to is the smell of homemade muffins!

And the other night I made pecan pie bars from the Golden Book of Baking
that Bryan got me for Christmas. They were wonderful!

Ugh! This is why I go to the gym!
Our first intramural beach volleyball game is tomorrow, by the way! Excited! :)

Summer days, driftin' away

I moved into a new apartment over two weeks ago
and I STILL have not finished setting up my room
(I will post pictures of it once I am all done!).
The past few days I have been barricaded in there,
cleaning out the jungle that is my closet. I just finished this morning,
but let me tell you, it was NOT an easy task!

The good news is that I was able to accomplish a goal in the process,
#094: Donate clothes I
don't wear to Goodwill.
A lot of the stuff I donated was brand new -- like never been worn!
I just had such a messy closet that I totally forgot they were there
and now, years after I bought them, they no longer fit me.
I guess I could have asked my friends or sisters if they wanted anything,
or even sold some of my items, but all I could think about was
how selfish it would be to make profit off of these clothes when there
are so many people who need them much more than me.

I still have a few more things to do before my room is finished,
including putting up pictures of family & friends and organizing my desk.
That probably will not happen for a while, though, because my summer has been so eventful!
I have been:

working...

playing with puppies...

celebrating...

and gallivanting about Hollywood...

I hope summer has been as kind to you as it has been to me!
P.S. The 4th of July is next Sunday! Are you as excited as I am?!
